Oh I dunno..."normal people" who are tired of hearing the same arguments from the same people without backing it up? People who like the game aren't fanboys. People who like the game and won't skip the chance to defend it with the very same argument in every single thread with a slight and maybe even subtle negative vibe towards the way things are being done about the game are fanboys. Most of them have already managed to massacre this thread with mindless dribble of trying to compare the OP's money spendt with his time etc. He's unhappy with the game. His reasons were viable. He expressed why and how he got tired of the game. End of story. You might try to argue that he bought the game for the wrong reason (his being PvE only), but I can only point the finger at A.net for trying to lure people from the wrong audience.

guild wars IS NOT an item-based game, variety in items/weapons/armor/whatever is not what the game is about

they purposely limited the choices in respect to equipment to make it as balanced as possible, and leave the real variety to the skills

that's why you have the option to make a max-level pvp character with the best armor and weapons right from the start

it's the skills that define this game, not anything else, if you want an item-based game go back to diablo. or wow. or one of those.
how would i know? well this is exactly why i made the comparison so people can have something to compare it to as they lack basic analitical skills to judge properly.

well they didnt limit it by accident, your also comparing pve with pvp. PvP there is no issue with equipment i see nothing wrong there and i perfectly understand these balancing issues. PvE on the other hand, these issues are non existant as you can not fight each other, you can easily standaerdise PvP weapons so there is a balanced playing field while diversifying PvE weapons so people have choice, but please dont limit this argumennt to just weapons you are forgeting what a normal rpg entails.

any rpg has veriaty in many aspects of the game not just one, which is one example of how this game is limited.

i sugest you understand the argument before flaming a reply, we are talking about PvE aspects of the Game.

here is something said elsewhere (no, not the carebear site) on another view on the game

WHY I LOVE THIS GAME.......

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let me start by saying I have been involved with RPG's since the pen and paper days of the 60's and on every computer system since the Commodore 64. Ok, so I'm older....I admit it ! Still I have played them all but never online, and I never post to these forums but I felt compelled to this time. I am sure there are others like me out there who just want to enjoy the fantasy world and the people in it. No technicalities ....just pure enjoyment and entertainment. Guild Wars does that for me and the others like me who love the adventure and beauty of this world. Although it can be hard sometimes to talk to people in the game because of their strict interest in only the technical aspects of this great game there are those I have managed to bond with in a truly wonderful way. All I am saying is lets just enjoy the world of Tyria and all it has to offer.....make someone's day by speaking with them and look forward to the many adventures that await us all...have fun....you never know .....a complete stranger could become a friend......it might even be me................enjoy....... be well..............
EDIT

what i would like to add is that sometimes i turn around a corner and see a bit of scenery that makes me simply stand there for minutes (henchies dont mind) and watch the clouds or whatever it is and just enjoy it.

i am a tourist at heart i guess.

has anybody seen a rainbow yet?

Hi,

that quote is good but it is very obviouse the person hasnt gotton past the wow factor to be able to offer on objective view of the game rather than an emotional view which is what that is. I felt the same when i first played it, the game looks relatively great but we are not disputing that.

You can not argue that it doesnt lack many aspects, the reality is that it does.

This is not new information by any standard. It's just another long-winded farewell.

Thanks.

I fully agree with the original poster about PvE.

Anyone playing AD&D? Than tell me what you are missing in this suggestion about creating your own challenges...

I think playing the game for 5 months makes it worth ist money. No matter how I regret Anet's decissons in PvE. They promote all kinds of PvP events the best way they can. Clearly balancing is meant for PvP. The level cab, the low level items, skill balance...
Diablo 2: LOD has been nerfed more than once. There were complaints too. The big difference was that players allways got a huge compensation in new and stronger skill builds and, most importantly, items. This is not possible in a game that tries to support all kinds of balanced PvP matches. And thats where PvE players get disappointed: The point where their chr. cant grow stronger anymore is reached somewhere halfway the game. No need to even finish it.

So what whould AD&D players miss in the suggestion of creating your own challenges, by beating missions? A decent reward!
